Morris Animal Refuge’s mission is not only to find forever homes for adoptable animals, but to increase the adoption potential for those in serious need of medical care or behavioral support. Whether it’s a senior pet in desperate need of dentistry, a litter of kittens fighting illness, or an injured animal requiring emergency surgery, our Life Saver Fund ensures every animal gets a chance at the healthy, happy life they deserve.
To honor the extraordinary generosity and ongoing support of Bill Lucia, Morris Animal Refuge created the Bill Lucia Life Saver Award. Each year, this award recognizes an individual or organization that has made a significant, positive impact in saving the lives of Philadelphia’s most vulnerable animals

Bill Lucia is a dedicated animal advocate, philanthropist, and longtime supporter of Morris Animal Refuge. Through his generosity and leadership, countless animals with nowhere else to turn have received the lifesaving care they need. His compassion has inspired others to join in our mission, helping to expand the reach and impact of the Life Saver Fund each year
About the Award
Established in 2022, the Bill Lucia Lifesaver Award is presented annually at the Morris Animal Refuge Fur Ball. The award honors an individual, volunteer, or partner whose actions embody the spirit of rescue, compassion, and dedication to saving animals in need.

Since the award’s creation, hundreds of animals have received lifesaving medical care thanks to the generosity and inspiration of Bill Lucia and those who share his commitment to Philadelphia’s most vulnerable pets. Together, we are building a community where no animal is left behind.
