When we first met Morisina, she was a tiny six month old pup with a big heart and an even bigger uphill battle with her health.
Morisina was transferred from ACCT Philly to Morris Animal Refuge where she arrived with demodectic mange and a painful upper respiratory infection. Her skin was raw and patchy, her breathing labored, and her eyes full of uncertainty. Mange is a treatable but intimidating condition, and sadly, it often scares away adopters. But we saw something more in Morisina; the spark of a fighter, and the soul of a pup who has so much will to heal.
Thanks to supporters like you, we were able to give Morisina the specialized care she needed: medications, gentle baths, and, most importantly, the safe haven of a loving foster home where she could rest and recover. Day by day, her fur began to grow back, her tail started to wag, and her bright spirit began to shine.
Then something amazing happened.
Morisina was adopted by a local public safety officer who saw past her scars and believed in her potential. Today, this once very sick pup is a certified therapy dog, helping children with PTSD find peace and comfort. The same dog who came to us frightened and fragile is now offering strength and healing to others.
That’s the power of love, care, and community! And it all starts with you.
Your donation today helps us write more stories like Morisina’s. It gives second chances to the animals who need it most; the ones overlooked, the ones healing, the ones waiting for someone to believe in them.
