Spike’s journey is truly a heartwarming one, and we’re excited to share his “Happy Tail” with you!
Back on April 24th, our staff arrived at the shelter to find a small French Bulldog named Spike abandoned outside, in desperate need of urgent care. His previous family had left a note explaining that while Spike was a sweet and loving boy, they couldn’t afford the emergency surgery required to treat his rectal prolapse. Heartbroken and out of options, they made the difficult decision to leave him in our care, hoping we could provide the help they couldn’t.
It was clear Spike needed medical attention immediately, so we rushed him to the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG), where he underwent life-saving surgery. But that was only the beginning. Over the following month, Spike had several surgeries, including a soft palate repair, a prolapse repair, and neutering. Through it all, this brave little pup remained full of resilience, proving just how strong his spirit really was.
Spike’s recovery wouldn’t have been possible without the help of his amazing foster family, who showered him with love and care. And, as often happens, they fell head over paws for him. They couldn’t bear the thought of parting with Spike, so they made the wonderful decision to adopt him!
Thanks to your incredible support, Spike now has a forever home where he’s thriving and living his best life. Donations to our Lifesaver Fund made his surgeries and care possible, ensuring that animals like Spike get a second chance at happiness.
Spike’s story reminds us all why we do what we do. Because of your generosity, he has a happy ending—a loving home to call his own.
Thank you for making Spike’s Happy Tail a reality!
