If you’ve been keeping up with our shelter, you must know who Dior is by now. She is the super sweet, very playful but deaf pittie who spent quite a long time at Morris. Dior arrived in January of this year, and she spent the next 5 months with us – during that time, she went in and out of foster care, but kept returning to the shelter due to behavioral issues in the home. During that time we also worked with a specialist who had experience with deaf dogs to help us better train Dior, so that she would be ready to go to a furever home.

Recognize this face? Dior was our longest-term resident for a while!

Dior was here for so long, occupying our largest kennel in our Large Dog Room, that we all became attached to her, and every one of us desperately wanted her to get the home she deserved. Her disability made her a hard sell; because she’s completely deaf due to her genetic makeup, it was difficult for people to decide to take a chance on her. Her sweet, bubbly, energetic personality pulled everyone in, and her stocky but adorable frame got everyone’s attention, but she just couldn’t find the right people for her. We understood that completely, and are so grateful to everyone who spent time with Dior over the past months – you all helped contribute to her happy ending!

Morris never lost hope, and neither did Dior – throughout all of her five months here, she never lost her spirit and was constantly her happy, affectionate self. She was always so excited to go on a walk with one of our volunteers or staff members, and the more time we spent with her, the more we loved her.

Finally, after almost half the year, someone interested in fostering Dior reached out to us. We really hoped this would be the time that Dior was finally getting some good luck. And it turned out to be an even greater outcome than we expected! After two weeks with her foster family, they fell in love with her and decided to adopt her!

According to her new family, Dior is very, very loved – we are overjoyed for her! The news that she got adopted brought tears to some of our eyes. It truly felt so rewarding and heartwarming to know that after so long, she got the home she deserved. Dogs like Dior are special cases, but we never give up on our animals, and this is why – because we know that eventually, if we work hard enough and support them long enough, they will find their furever homes and families. And all of the work is worth it.

We love you, Dior! We’re so happy for you.

Thank you so much to Dior’s adopters, and everyone else who has been a part of her life for the last five months. We know Dior is going to have the best, most amazing new life!
