Chucky arrived at the shelter in 2019. A sweet but rambunctious and untrained pup, he had some issues with mouthiness and behavior. The shelter environment is particularly challenging for large dogs who have behavior issues, so our staff collaborated to create a behavior plan for Chucky. We worked on responding to commands, redirecting mouthiness to toys, and reactivity, and luckily, we saw benefits from our focus on him.
Still, Chucky struggled to find a home. But after being heavily promoted, having his adoption fee sponsored, and getting in front of as many eyes as possible, Chucky finally found his forever home!
He has been with his family for over three years now. They say Chucky is “the sweetest, smartest, and funniest boy. He loves people, dogs, cuddles, and most importantly car rides. We took him to see Mount Poconos over the summer and he loved it.”
Our community came together to find Chucky a wonderful home, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
